Sergey V. Komarov combines the expertise of a professor with that of a leading university researcher, complemented by extensive practical experience in research and the industrial implementation of scientific developments in Japan. His primary research focus is on waste‑free technologies and innovative materials created through high‑intensity energy processing of metals, ceramics, and composites. One of the few Russian scientists with over 30 years of experience in Japan, he served as a full professor at Tohoku University, one of Japan’s top universities, for a decade. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Japanese Institute of Light Metals and later headed its Northeast Branch.
