Kostjuk Sergei Viktorovich

He is a world-recognized specialist in the field of cationic polymerization of vinyl and heterocyclic monomers. Together with the group of François Ganacho (INSA-Lyon, France, Lyon), he created and developed a new scientific direction related to the implementation of “green” cationic polymerization by carrying out the process in an aqueous suspension or emulsion (more than 15 articles in highly rated scientific publications). He has carried out a large series of works on the search for new, effective homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems for the cationic polymerization of isobutylene in order to obtain functionalized polyisobutylenes, which are key intermediates in the production of additives in motor oils and fuels. These studies were carried out with the financial support of BASF companies (10 contracts, about 20 articles in rating foreign scientific journals, about 350,000 euros of extra-budgetary funding) and PJSC TATNEFT (about 18,000,000 rubles of extra-budgetary funding). With the financial support of EURENCO (2 contracts, 70,000 euros), an effective catalytic system was developed for the production of hydroxyl-terminated polyepichlorohydrin, used as a binder in the production of solid rocket propellants. In addition to cationic polymerization, Kostjuk S.V. is also a world-class specialist in the development of biodegradable polymers and copolymers, as well as thermosensitive (co)polymers for use in regenerative medicine.
